The Australian Defence Force has confirmed rumours that it has personnel who identify as gender 'X' - neither male, nor female - as their Academy accepted its first 'cadet X' recently.
A front page report in The Australian newspaper today and in Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper confirm that the gender X category was implemented across government with the support of then Human Rights Commissioner Gillian Triggs.
The Daily Telegraph reveals that in the past five years the ADF has spent more than $1 million helping 27 members deal with gender dysmorphia, including paying for 17 to have sex-change surgery.
Senator Cory Bernardi said: “The political correctness at defence continues with this gender X trainee raising a raft of questions including which barracks and latrine to use. It is mind-boggling. I have spoken to several defence force members who feel they are part of a giant social experiment that is being driven from the top down."
