The Conservative Party has announced a team of Senate candidates in every Australian state to contest the next federal election. This means conservative voters in every state will have a candidate to vote for.
Some supporters ask, will there be a candidate in my the House of Representatives seat?
The answer is quite simple: The Conservative Party doesn't need seats in the House of Representatives to shape legislative outcomes in federal parliament. We aren't seeking to replace government, but to steer it in the right direction.
As leader Cory Bernardi explained to Sydney radio station 2GB, whatever happens after the next election, either Labor or the Coalition will control the lower house - but they won't have the balance of power in the Senate.
