The Conservative Party's New South Wales Senate candidate Sophie York has spelled out the significance of China's expansion in building militarised islands on top of reefs in the South China Sea.
Addressing a China Conference in Sydney earlier this month, the barrister, legal philosopher and university lecturer detailed the internationally accepted history of the law of the sea and maritime rights and pointed to China's expansionist moves to illegally extend its territory which is inflaming tensions in the region.
