The power of words: Devine

Shakespeare famously wrote, "the pen is mightier than the sword". How true that is in light of the avalanche of politically correct directions we're constantly being given by the righteous few who feel it is their calling to tell us what we can and cannot say.

Political correctness disguises itself as tolerance, civility and love, but in reality it is the mechanism by which free speech is silenced and views that run counter to the cultural elite are demonised.

Daily Telegraph columnist Miranda Devine gave a key-note address to last weekend's inaugural Queensland Conservative Party conference in which she attacked moves to get us to change the words we use.
