The importance of the senate crossbench

Whichever party you vote for at the next federal election, either Labor or the Liberal/National Coalition parties will form government in the House of Representatives, something Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says demonstrates why you need to vote Conservative in the Senate.

The fact that an increasing number of Australians are deserting the major parties and voting for minor parties and independents is the only way to keep in check whoever wins government in the lower house.

Senator Bernardi has told Kel Richards on Sydney radio station 2CH, to ensure the next government passes principled, common sense legislation, you need to vote for the Conservative Party in the Senate - because crossbench senators play a vital role in shaping legislative outcomes.
