The Conservative Party leads, others follow

November 13, 2018

In November 2017 Conservative party leader Cory Bernardi moved in the Senate to end the 20-year-old Greens moratorium on the consideration of Nuclear power as part of Australia’s energy mix.

This is despite the fact that Australia holds 31% of the world’s uranium reserves and would be 100% self-sufficient in energy should nuclear power be deployed.

Last month, the Conservative party released MIT research on the case for the establishment of a nuclear power plant South Australia in tandem with a desalination plant which would green thousands of kilometres of regional SA.

Liberal NSW Senator Jim Molan has today tweeted that, “nuclear power would have a number of benefits for Australia, resolving our long term problems in energy and helping secure our energy sovereignty. Every technology should be on the table, and modern nuclear one of the best.”

Senator Molan also wrote an opinion piece in today's The Australian entitled, "We can't ignore our unique nuclear opportunity."

Proving again that the Conservative party leads, while others follow.
