Technology-agnostic Conservatives

April 17, 2019

Electricity bills will continue to skyrocket and more gas and coal-fired power stations will close if the share of wind and solar generation increases dramatically, engineers have warned after analysing our nation’s energy supply.

The Conservative Party advocates a technology-agnostic approach to power generation despite the fact that you can't have reliable cheap energy at the moment if the generation focus is on renewables.

The analysis by Energy Power Consulting casts doubt on Labor’s claim that a 50 per cent renewable energy target — the centrepiece of the opposition’s climate change policy — would reduce electricity prices.

It found bills were likely to soar 84 per cent, or about $1400 a year, for the typical household, if wind and solar power supplied around half of the national electricity market.

The Conservative Party's WA Senate candidate Jonathan Crabtree has told Matt McKenzie on Perth radio station 87.9FM the major parties can't be trusted on energy policy because of their dishonesty with the voters.
