Tomorrow’s national climate day strike, when school students are again being told to wag school to "save the planet" from the supposed existential threat of man-made global warming, represents the most egregious example of cultural-left mind control and group think.
The Conservative Party is vehemently opposed to this kind of socialist virtue signalling being allowed to infest our education system and will fight 'political correctness' at every turn. Vote "1" Australian Conservatives in the Senate to bring common sense back to Canberra.
The Daily Telegraph reports, Children as young as seven and eight are being mobilised by the organisers of the schoolstrike4climate webpage to write letters to school authorities and politicians, to demonstrate outside MPs’ offices and to take to the streets and join centrally managed and controlled demonstrations across the nation.
And you can forget the disclaimer that the schoolstrike4climate webpage and campaign is organised and led by students. Even a cursory glance shows adults are involved, with the suggested letters, petitions, posters, strategies and resources detailed for students bearing the stamp of experienced and well-trained political apparatchiks.
Students are told the most effective rallies are “Colourful — with lots of banners and signs; Loud — have a good megaphone or PA and lots of chants to keep up the crowd energy and make sure the politicians can hear you inside; and Participatory — everyone in the crowd has an opportunity to be active, eg: posting on the politicians’ social media channels, making phone calls to politicians, writing letters, having an open mic for any student to say a few words, etc.”
Another giveaway under the heading “Solidarity” is the list of unions supporting the climate change campaign, including the Australian Education Union, the National Tertiary Education Union, the CFMEU, the ETU and the Community and Public Sector Union.
Given the unions involved, the fact that this week’s strike is in the middle of an election campaign and students are told the Morrison/Frydenberg Budget “only feeds the climate crisis," it’s clear the campaign is being used to bring about a change of government.
Reading the material on the website it is also clear that those orchestrating the event are more concerned about indoctrinating students and using them as pawns, as opposed to providing a balanced and rational exposition of the issue.
The language used is highly emotive, with expressions like “climate change is the biggest threat to everything we care about”, and there is no acknowledgment that many scientists question the link between climate change and the impact of man-made carbon emissions.
Also ignored is that renewables are expensive, unreliable and that, even if Australia reduces its greenhouse emissions, what we have sacrificed in terms of higher costs and less productivity will have negligible effect.
The fact that thousands of immature and easily manipulated students were involved in the last two national strikes and will be involved again this week is also symptomatic of an education system riven with politically correct ideology and cultural-left group think.
No longer is education about teaching students to be critically aware and independently minded, as the dominant ideology is now one that turns students into new-age warriors of the cultural left.
The left-wing of the Coalition too has been infected with this cultural poison so the only way you can fight this pernicious leftism is to vote "1" Australian Conservatives in the Senate.
Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi has told Paul Murray Live on Sky News the climate alarmists keep on trotting out the same old nonsense and false predictions.
