Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi called out his fellow senators today for failing to support his bill to put a ceiling on federal government debt and to let the Turnbull government lead Australia further down the path of unsustainable spending.
With Australia's national debt standing at more than $518 billion, the annual interest on that debt is a staggering $17 billion.
And while our parliamentarians don't seem to be willing to rein in government spending, there's no shortage of people putting their hand out for rewards, acknowledgement and grants for political favourites.
