Australian Conservatives MLC Robert Brokenshire will lead a delegation of mayors from across SA to meet with Minister Mullighan over the issue of reduced road speeds in country areas.
"These mayors represent their districts and I represent rural people across SA in a common opposition to the government’s decision to drop road speeds rather than invest in road infrastructure," Mr Brokenshire said.
"It is time to make sure our roads are safe by spending money where necessary; sealing shoulders, adding tactile strips, installing overpassing lanes and general spending on improvements. It is time the government took responsibility for their lack of investment rather than punishing people in rural areas. These are people who spend a lot of time and many kilometres each year travelling on these roads, and who pay more fuel tax as a result."
