Australian Conservatives Senator Cory Bernardi has begun calling South Australians and Victorians to survey their views on marriage.
The Senator is using the common modern political technique of automated calling, applied by many political parties to find out voters' views.
In the phone message, Senator Bernardi explains that he will be voting 'No' in the marriage law postal survey, and sets out some of his reasons for doing so.
Callers are then invited to press a number on the keypad indicating their voting intentions.
Senator Bernardi later spoke with 3AW radio about the polling - you can listen to the segment here.
