SA needs to maximise opportunities: Bernardi

November 14, 2018

NSW Liberal Democratic Party Senator David Leyonhjelm says South Australia and Tasmania are “beggar states” that should be thrown out of the Australian Federation.

South Australian Senator and leader of the Conservative Party was in the Senate Chair during yesterday's debate on changes to the way GST revenue is shared between the states and territories when Liberal Democrat Senator Leyonhjelm called for SA and Tasmania to “begxit” from Australia.

Senator Bernardi has told ABC Radio Adelaide we shouldn't take the criticism lying down, but Senator Leyonhjelm raises an interesting point on the need for South Australia to perform better.
