The Adelaide Advertiser newspaper today reports on how close South Australia has come to having a blackout in recent weeks.
Gas generators have been forced to turn on or stay on five times in the past six weeks to prevent blackouts. Whilst Coalition sources claimed this demonstrated the need to back the latest government energy plan, Australian Conservatives had a different, pro-stability take on the situation.
Australian Conservatives Senator Cory Bernardi said the Turnbull Government's energy proposal was a “baby step in the right direction”.
“Saving $100 in 10 years’ time is neither here nor there,” he told Sky News. “We need absolutely to provide certainty for our business community in this country.”
