SA Australian Conservatives MLC Dennis Hood Opposes Palestinian State Recognition

July 26, 2017

As South Australia's Upper House prepares to call for immediate Palestinian state recognition, Australian Conservatives state leader Dennis Hood cites concerns that endorsement of Palestine is both unjustified and beyond the responsibility of state governments.

The Advertiser today remarks an apparent shift away from supporting Israel by the Labor party and also highlights that SA's State Government recently became the first in Australia to formally support a separate nation, having passed a motion advising Canberra to recognise equal standing between Israel and Palestine.

Dennis Hood says that State Parliament should not be dealing with "international matters" to begin with, and further suggests that the motion ignores Palestine's history of terrorism, stating that "Israel is often subjected to the most wicked acts of terrorism."
