Rikki Lambert: Fighting for Murray communities

February 01, 2019

The Murray-Darling Basin SA Royal Commission has found Commonwealth officials committed gross maladministration, negligence and unlawful actions in drawing up the multi-billion-dollar deal to save Australia's largest river system.

The Conservative Party's South Australian Senate candidate Rikki Lambert is calling for a federal royal commission to sort out the mess.

As was widely expected, the report is a "greenwash" with Commissioner Bret Walker SC recommending a complete overhaul of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, including reallocating more water from irrigation to the environment - effectively throwing irrigators and river communities under the bus.

Rikki visited Waikerie this morning to see, for himself, the state of the river.
