New Immigration Minister David Coleman's push to encourage new migrants to live in regional areas to reduce population pressures in Sydney and Melbourne isn't necessarily the answer, according to Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi.
Senator Bernardi says while pushing migrants to less populated regional areas instead of big cities might seem like a quick-fix solution to some of the problems posed by mass migration, state governments need to fix density and infrastructure anomalies in their state capitals.
He's told Paul Murray Live on Sky News regional settlement is certainly not as simple as it sounds.
