Former communist-turned-Green, NSW senator Lee Rhiannon, has this morning announced she will step down from the Senate in August for her pre-selected replacement, Mehreen Faruqi.
Controversy followed Rhiannon throughout her career, including inside the Greens party itself when the ABC Four Corners program exposed the factional warfare to seize control back from Rhiannon loyalists.
The internal factional battles within the Greens bear striking resemblances to the internal rifts within the Marxist, Communist and Socialist movements of the past that the Greens idolise.
Departing Senator Rhiannon recently labelled Australian Conservatives founder and leader, senator Cory Bernardi, an 'animal' in the Senate:
Senator Rhiannon may be on her way out, but the cultural Marxist, communist leanings of the Greens remain deep, strong and more obvious than ever before.
