There is growing support for Senator Cory Bernardi's call to prorogue (ie suspend) Parliament while the citizenship scandal is resolved in federal parliament.
Senior federal politics reporter Peter Jean writes in The Advertiser newspaper in Adelaide today that "Serious consideration should be given to the proposal by Senator Cory Bernardi for Parliament to be formally prorogued while an audit is conducted. This means parliamentary sittings would be suspended while the citizenship investigation is conducted."
Senator Bernardi has also called for the citizenship audit itself, which over recent days has drawn support from the Australian Greens and a growing number of Coalition backbench senators and members.
