Australian Conservatives MLC Dennis Hood says he will introduce legislation to deal with those who would desecrate or vandalise plaques and statues in South Australia.
“The type of lawless behaviour we have witnessed in America, and now in Sydney is deplorable and we cannot allow a pocketful of outraged activists to dictate to the rest of society what is and isn’t acceptable,” Mr Hood said.
“Attempting to rewrite history by removing statues or eliminating any mention of those who made it from the public square without a conversation or through legal channels is simply unacceptable and we should not stand for such intolerance from the enraged left.”
“Australia is a democracy and nobody should be able to change a plaque or remove a statue without the consent of the majority or through legal process.”
“It is time we stood up to these bullies who do not speak for every member of society and I plan to put into place laws to protect our ways of life and make sure proper process rather than mob mentality is adhered to.”
