Federal Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg has been criticised for saying that power prices could come down this year.
Speaking in Canberra this week Mr Frydenberg said, "I've made it very clear to the CEO's that with that decline in the forward curve for wholesale prices and what we've seen in the gas market as well we would expect that to be passed on to consumers... but certainly we are expecting to see power prices come down."
Australian Conservatives founder Cory Bernardi has told Paul Murray Live on Sky News he thinks it's a dangerous prediction because the electricity suppliers will simply continue gaming the system to the detriment of consumers.
