The Australian Conservative Party's outcry demanding Australia get out of the Paris Climate Pact is paying dividends, with revelations in The Australian this morning that it's all about money.
Graham Lloyd writes today that the Paris pact depends on a $100 billion climate change fund, which is a key stumbling block to success at landmark talks scheduled for Poland in December, "Without a firm commitment on finance for developing countries the meeting is unlikely to succeed."
The article asserts that the key actors in halting the fund are the United States of America - which has pulled out of the Paris pact - and Australia, which the Conservative Party is urging to do likewise.
Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi said the article further strengthened the case to get out of Paris. "Once again the climate change campaign is all about money. This fund is another mechanism for wealth redistribution to economic minnow nations. We've got enough socialism in the world - it has never worked, so why do they keep trying?"
