Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi has fired a parting shot at the latest Liberal to announce his retirement from federal parliament at the next election, Christopher Pyne.
Mr Pyne announced his retirement from politics last week and said he would not stand again in his seat of Sturt, which he has held for the past 26 years.
When asked last night on Paul Murray Live on Sky News about their chequered personal and political history Senator Bernardi described Mr Pyne as a cross between Frank Spencer (from the BBC TV comedy show Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em) and Frank Underwood (the Machiavellian US President from the Netflix series House of Cards, played by Kevin Spacey).
