Australian Conservatives candidate,Tony Parker supports nuclear power. His leader, Cory Bernardi, has a bill before the senate which seeks to lift the nuclear ban which has plagued Australia for decades.
Port Lincoln local Terry Krieg has written to The Port Lincoln Times saying:
At last there is a party prepared to speak for and to act in support of the cleanest, greenest, safest, most powerful source of emissions-free energy known to mankind.
It's obviously early days for any change in our politicians toward an acceptance of nuclear power. But some of them do support it and in both major parties.
We must hope that those who do support it will be able to bring their party members along with them.
Development of the full nuclear fuel cycle in SA over coming decades will make South Australia the ‘clean energy capital of the world’.
And we will no longer depend on handouts from the other states to secure our economy. We'll move from one of the poorest states in the commonwealth to one of the richest.
