Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi has welcomed Prime Minister Scott Morrison's announcement that he has, at last, agreed to consider Conservative Party policy and overturn the ban on building nuclear reactors in Australia.
The former chair of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and current chair of NBN Co, Ziggy Switkowski, told The Weekend Australian it was sensible to clear the regulatory pathway for the next generation of small nuclear reactors which the International Atomic Agency says are vital to meeting the global challenge of climate change.
Senator Bernardi has revealed to Paul Murray Live on Sky News, he has been working with M.I.T. on a soon-to-be-released report on the benefits of a nuclear energy future for Australia.
