Queenslanders will have special protections to use words like "him" and "her" at work, universities and public service jobs, under a proposal by the Katter's Australian Party leader Robbie Katter - and Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi has welcomed the news.
Mr Katter wants to change anti-discrimination laws to make sure people are not subject to "frivolous discrimination claims" or punishment for using gender-based language.
The move comes after allegations surfaced that University of Queensland students had been marked down for using words such as "mankind".
Senator Bernardi has told Triple M’s Luke Bona Robbie Katter makes perfect sense with what he's doing.
