Malcolm Turnbull (pictured) has lashed out at Prime Minister Scott Morrison for saying he went beyond his “brief” on his recent mission to Bali, and insists he was asked to discuss trade and the Israeli embassy with the Indonesians.
Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says Morrison erred in sending Turnbull in the first place.
The Australian reports, the former prime minister represented the Prime Minister at the "Our Ocean" Conference in Bali this week but used trip to publicly warn Mr Morrison that moving Australia’s Israeli embassy to Jerusalem would hurt relations with Indonesia.
Mr Morrison told 2GB today that the former prime minister was only sent to Bali for the conference and “issues of trade and other things were not really part of the brief.”
Senator Bernardi told Sky News that the spat between Mr Turnbull and Mr Morrison demonstrates how plenty of members of the government could have done the job better than Mr Turnbull.
