Australian Conservatives leader Senator Cory Bernardi announced today that former Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director, Lyle Shelton, has joined the party as Federal Director of Communications and Party Spokesman, based in Brisbane from Monday 5 February.
"Australian Conservatives are delighted to have someone with Lyle's passion and skills to help take our movement to the next level," Senator Bernardi said in Toowoomba today.
"Lyle will play a key role in the development of the party in Queensland and nationally."
Mr Shelton thanked Senator Bernardi for the opportunity, saying "After more than 10 years working at the ACL in Canberra, I have returned to my home state of Queensland to help build a conservative political movement capable of winning Senate seats at the next federal election."
"Australia needs a principled, conservative alternative to the two major parties," Mr Shelton said, "Australian Conservatives provides a home for any Australian who is concerned about the federal government's skyrocketing debt, loss of basic freedoms and social engineering programs like the controversial 'Safe Schools' program."
"Having worked closely with Senator Bernardi during the plebiscite campaign, I am looking forward to working to help build a movement that will stand for conservative values and offer Australians a better way."
