Australian Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi says the government needs to scrap renewable energy subsidies and give guarantees that it’s not going to move the goal posts on energy suppliers to encourage generators of cheap power to enter the market.
Senator Bernardi says at the moment, suggestions to provide reliable baseload power, “all involve either nationalising the electricity market, the government spending hundreds of millions of dollars more, or billions of dollars more, in the creeping socialism of building power stations.”
He’s told 2GB’s Chris Kenny there is a better way to solve the problem of unreliable and expensive electricity that won’t cost taxpayers a cent.
