Help Smokers Quit - Legalise Vaping

May 29, 2018

Thursday (31 May) is World No Tobacco Day and to celebrate, the Australian Conservatives would like you to support our campaign to legalise nicotine vaping now!

The incoming president of the Australian Medical Association, Tony Bartone, this week dashed hopes that he might move to relax the association’s opposition to e-cigarettes.

Australian Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi says, "I'm a reformed smoker, I know how difficult it is to quit, and anything we can do to minimise the damage attached to cigarettes, and get people off cigarettes, is a step in the right direction".

"Vaping is merely another means of delivering nicotine that is far less harmful than many alternatives,” Senator Bernardi said vaping would help prevent thousands of premature deaths in Australia by people being able to vape nicotine using e-cigarettes.

He also suggested it could boost the Government's bottom line, "The Government is forgoing tax revenue at the moment because they're prohibiting one of the measures by which people can receive their nicotine fix, in a less harmful manner," he said.

According to Britain's Royal College of Physicians , vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking cigarettes, it doesn't smell and it helps people quit smoking which kills around 19,000 Australians every year.

Earlier this year, Senator Bernardi received an award from Legalise Vaping Australia for his efforts to campaign for its legalisation.
