Australian Conservatives founder Cory Bernardi says despite the 30th consecutive losing Newspoll for Malcolm Turnbull this week, and repeated denials of disunity within the federal Coalition Government, he suspects all is not rosy in the Liberal camp.
Following government denials yesterday that there is disunity within Cabinet over immigration levels, Immigration Minister and self-professed leadership aspirant Peter Dutton's push for a reduction he says was knocked back by the Prime Minister and Treasurer Scott Morrison.
It all points to senior Liberals jockeying for leadership positions come the next inevitable leadership spill, rather fighting for principle and the issues that actually matter to Australia.
Senator Bernardi has told Alan Jones on Sky News the reason he formed the Australian Conservatives last year was to pursue a better way through true conservatism in Australian politics.
