Labor's cheap pitch for education votes in SA

January 30, 2018

While Australian Conservatives do not mind the SA Labor Government’s promise to put a laptop on the desk of every year 10 public school student from 2019 the real question is whether this is where desperate funding needed by our schools would be best spent.

The state government has done very little to invest in schools in the past 16 years and we know for a fact that resources are scarce and infrastructure has been neglected.

Computers are what you add to the mix when everything else is working well or when you are scrambling for votes ahead of an election.

Australian Conservatives believe money should be spent to improve our public school facilities, invest in curriculum, train teachers and improve scores before offering bells and whistles.

This is the worst type of pre-election sales techniques that we see and an insult to the intelligence of the electorate. Instead of sensible policies and putting funding where it is needed, the government simply offers a laptop for a vote.

Our students, our parents and our schools deserve better than this
