The Conservative Party's Victorian Senate candidate Kevin Bailey has been travelling throughout the Wimmera in an effort to gain support and develop a clear understanding of issues confronting rural and regional people.
The Weekly Advertiser reports, Mr Bailey, from Melbourne, has had a long association with the region through providing financial services, having worked in offices in Horsham, Hamilton and Mildura.
He said his party was concentrating heavily on trying to gain a balance of power and remove the influence of the Greens in the upper house.
“We’re about getting back to fundamental things everyday people talk about over the dinner table and working against self-interest political agendas,” Mr Bailey said.
He said he expected a federal election early in the new year.
