Immigration brings Australia to “make or break” moment

March 12, 2018

Rapid population growth is bringing Australia to a ‘make-or-break’ moment.

ABC TV’s exploration of the issues on Monday evening, featured plenty of voices suggesting that what’s about to ‘break’ is the Australian way of life, the natural environment, social cohesion and our standard of living.

Those arguments, being made by the likes of Australian Conservatives’ founder and South Australian Senator Cory Bernardi, entrepreneur Dick Smith and former foreign minister Bob Carr, are finding fertile political ground.

Senator Bernardi says the Australian Conservatives will reform the visa system to stop the family reunion and other immigration scams, “We’ll make sure migration is in our economic, social and cultural interest.  We’ll always put Australia’s interest first.”

The Senator has been praised by supporters on social media, “It was actually Cory Bernardi who first raised the need to review our immigration numbers due to infrastructure concerns."

"It's good that we are now debating this.”
