Australian Conservatives founder and South Australian Senator Cory Bernardi has welcomed former Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s call for there to be more honesty and integrity in Australian politics.
Senator Bernardi said, “It's good to see Tony Abbott acknowledging this as these are two of our guiding principles and ones we've been actively promoting for some time.”
The Australian newspaper reports Malcolm Turnbull today racked up the 30th consecutive Newspoll loss for the federal government.
The Newspoll shows the government is behind Labor on a two-party preferred basis at 48 per cent to 52 per cent, under Mr Turnbull’s leadership.
Denying he'd been briefing reporters off the record Mr Abbott said, “I think that is something that we need to see more of in our politics. We need to see honesty, we need to see integrity and we need to see people say what they mean and do what they say.”
