He's back!

June 18, 2018

Controversial Queensland businessman Clive Palmer has announced a move back into the political arena by changing the name of his deregistered Palmer United Party to the United Australia Party.

Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi says the last time Mr Palmer started a political party, his team quickly disintegrated.

The Guardian newspaper reports the change of name comes just weeks after Mr Palmer denied starting a new political campaign by funding hundreds of bright yellow billboards around the country with the slogan “Make Australia Great”.

PUP was deregistered last year by Palmer but he indicated this year he would resuscitate the party and stand candidates in all upper and lower house seats at the next poll.

Senator Bernardi has told Ashleigh Gillon on Sky News Mr Palmer spent a lot of money to buy the balance of power in the senate only to see his party collapse in farce.
