Senator Cory Bernardi has labelled as 'shameless' SA Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young's comments about One Nation senator Pauline Hanson.
Senator Hanson-Young attacked Senator Hanson on national television, saying that
Senator Hanson-Young claimed the next terror attack in Australia would be on Senator Hanson's head, after the One Nation senator pulled a controversial stunt in the Senate on Thursday. The Queensland senator wore a burqa - covering her full face and body - into the Senate to make a point about the burqa's appropriateness in Australian society.
Senator Bernardi has been a long-time advocate of banning the burqa, a cause Senator Hanson has taken up in returning to the federal parliament in the Senate.
Australian Conservative Cory Bernardi said Ms Hanson-Young had “a history of despicable and insensitive comments”. “Now she’s exploiting potentially tragic events for her own shameless political purposes,” Mr Bernardi said.
“She’s unsuitable to be a senator and it explains her lack of support by her Greens parliamentary colleagues.”
