Prime Minister Scott Morrison is right to resist “gender whisperers” in schools, Conservative Party spokesman Lyle Shelton said.
“Teaching children their gender is fluid is the next phase of LGBTIQA+ agenda following the achievement of same-sex marriage and it must be resisted,” Mr Shelton said.
Queensland Labor’s education Minister Grace Grace told Channel 9 in April that now that “marriage equality” was law, parents had to accept their children being taught that their gender was fluid.
“Parents wanting to protect their children from gender indoctrination at school are rightly worried in this post-same-sex marriage world,” Mr Shelton said.
“It will take courage and unity in the Coalition to resist the Greens as they seek to entrench gender fluid teaching in schools.”
The University of Western Sydney’s Professor John Whitehall is right to warn of the harms to children of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, loss of fertility and irreversible surgery.
Mr Shelton said the Conservative Party was committed to ensuring education returned to the basics and that parents’ rights to protect their children from indoctrination were protected.
“The redefinition of marriage in law has unleashed a whole new world of gender confusion and restriction of freedom of speech which the Greens are seeking to capitalise on.
“Conservative Senators are needed to take the fight up to the Greens where the major parties have largely rolled over," Mr Shelton said.
Mr Shelton says this kind of pernicious gender confusion politics is now being promoted by the ABC.
