Australians in the dark on foreign-owned Australian farm water

October 22, 2018

The Conservative Party's South Australian Senate candidate Rikki Lambert is calling on the Morrison government to produce a register of foreign-owned Australian water.

With farmers aren't able to water their stock or their crops without adequate access to water rights, it's appropriate that there is full transparency on how much water is owned by foreign governments and corporations - and how they're using it.

Rikki has told Adelaide radio station FIVEaa's Andrew Reimer, Chinese-owned companies are gobbling up Australian farm land and water assets at an alarming rate and the federal government needs to do something about it.  Increasing water ownership transparency is a good place to start.
