An Australian Conservatives motion passed the senate today which restored a fuller appreciation of the historical context and value of the Eureka Stockade in 1854 and the Southern Cross Eureka flag.
Senator Cory Bernardi moved and brought to a vote this motion, which was opposed by the Labor and Greens parties - but passed with the support of the Coalition government parties and other crossbenchers:
Senator @corybernardi's motion to reclaim Eureka Stockade rebellion as a truly significant victory for individuals over big government - not the rallying flag for militant unionism #auspol #ABetterWay pic.twitter.com/iruExU9dpG— Aust Conservatives (@AuConservatives) December 4, 2017
Australian Conservatives have a strong appreciation for our national heritage and the prevention of the misappropriation of our heritage by radical causes.
