Deputy PM concedes merit in axing car taxes

January 04, 2018

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has given implicit support to Australian Conservatives' campaign for lower car taxes, becoming the most senior Australian minister to back tax cuts.

Senator Cory Bernardi has advocated in the senate for the axing of $1 billion a year in taxes paid by Australian car purchasers. You can read more about - and support - our campaign for cheaper cars at www.conservatives.org.au/cheapercars

Previously, SA Labor treasurer Tom Koutsantonis called for the axing of the same taxes, as they were no longer protecting an Australian automotive manufacturing industry.

Australian Conservatives continues to do the hard policy work of advocating common sense initiatives that the major parties ultimately adopt as their own.
