Australian Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi says socialism is creeping throughout Australian politics and now, even through the Liberal Party.
Senator Bernardi’s comments follow calls from a pro-coal 'ginger' group within the Coalition, the Monash Forum, urging the federal government to spend $4 billion of taxpayers’ money on a coal-fired power station.
Liberal MP Craig Kelly and Nationals MP George Christensen revealed more than 20 government MPs had joined the group to promote government support for the construction of new coal-fired power stations. The forum includes former prime minister Tony Abbott, Eric Abetz and Kevin Andrews.
Senator Bernardi has told Sky News the government should not be in the business of building power stations.
