How low can you go?" takes on a whole new meaning with the Coalition's budget-night declaration of war on cash, with breaking news that the budget ban on $10,000 cash payments is just the beginning.

Financial Services minister Kelly O'Dwyer has confirmed to the Australian Financial Review that the government will be consulting on setting an even lower limit on cash payments - say, $5,000.

Senator Bernardi warned on budget night that the government's new war on cash and privacy could well mean an even lower limit down the track. Little did we know, that track might only be days long.
