Conservatives focus on Federal election in Queensland, not contesting state poll

October 31, 2017

Local newspapers in Queensland have noted that the election called for Saturday November 25th will not feature Australian Conservatives or a number of other parties.

According to the Fairfax press' Brisbane Times online newspaper, only 6 parties met the arduous registration requirements of the Electoral Commission of Queensland before the snap poll was called.

The report quotes from an email update sent to Queensland members this week explaining the Conservatives movement would focus on the next Federal election.

Australian Conservatives was launched in February 2017, less than 9 months before the poll was called. The party has grown rapidly to over 15,000 members nationwide and is contesting the March 2018 South Australian state election, is registered to contest the November 2018 Victorian State election and is on the cusp of securing NSW state registration for the March 2019 state election.
