The Australian Conservatives have backed the Adani coal mine and called for a new clean-coal power station in Queensland.
"We need developments like Adani for the jobs they bring,” said the party’s Queensland chief Lyle Shelton.
“More people in India will be lifted out of poverty by having access to Australian clean coal," he said.
“We should make sure we are using these resources here as well and we should be building clean, coal-fired power stations. Coal has been demonised by the Green-Left."
"It’s paralysing both sides of politics and is a real problem. We’ve got the highest energy prices in the world and we are sitting on some of the most abundant natural resources such as coal," Mr Shelton said.
