Conservatives vindicated over calls for water register release

The confronting findings of a long-overdue federal government report on water ownership vindicate the Conservative Party's constant calls for it to be released. 

The report further justifies the Conservative Party demand for a royal commission into Chinese Communist Party influence in Australia.

The Conservatives' South Australian Senate candidate Rikki Lambert says the chart-topping role that China plays, with 732 gigalitres or 1.9% of all Australian water entitlements, is very concerning as Chinese ownership is effectively state-owned.

Mr Lambert says this further underscores the Conservatives' call for a Royal Commission into Chinese communist government influence in Australia.

"Our major concern is the significant level of ownership in the Murray-Darling Basin, 1,800 gigalitres or over 9% of total MDB water entitlement, including 22% foreign owned in the drought-stricken Darling tributaries or Northern Basin," he said.
