Burst the Canberra bubble: Bernardi

July 31, 2018

Beseiged Labor MP Emma Husar has apologised for bringing her dog to work, but insists she is the victim of an unfair “pile-on” of workplace behaviour allegations - something Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says is further evidence of what's wrong with Australian politics.

The Daily Telegraph reports, Ms Husar, is on personal leave pending an investigation into alleged misuse of employees including requiring them to walk her dog and pick up its excrement.

It can also be revealed at least one former staff member attempted to initiate an unfair dismissal case but the matter failed to qualify because Ms Husar sacked him one day before he had served a six-month probation period.

One Labor frontbencher said Ms Husar was unlikely to survive: “She is in diabolic trouble.”

Senator Bernardi has told Paul Murray Live on Sky News, this is everything that's wrong with politics and it's time to burst the Canberra bubble.
