Australian Conservatives MP the Hon. Rob Brokenshire MLC is pushing for much-needed accountability amidst SA state government selloffs.
According to the the Bill introduced by Brokenshire, all privatisations worth more than $50 million will need to be voted on by State Parliament.
According to The Advertiser: [it was] revealed last week that the company that bought South Australia’s forests five years ago for a price criticised as too cheap is making four times the profits generated under government management.
Forestry SA was sold to OneFortyOne Plantations in 2012 for “a very impressive offer” of $670 million, but the new owner has been making annual profits as high as $125.5 million.
