A Chinese-Australian newspaper has featured Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi's efforts to expose the actions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in China and abroad.
The allegations and the recent release of Clive Hamilton's book on CCP influence in Australia, 'Silent Invasion' have lent further weight to the Conservative Party's call for a Royal Commission into CCP influence.
The Epoch Times reports, Senator Cory Bernardi put forward two motions to federal Parliament tightly linked to issues of CCP influence and excesses.
The first - which the major parties rejected - called for a review of the Department for Education and Training’s engagement with Chinese Communist Party-administered 'Confucius' Institutes.
The successful second motion called out political re-education internment camps, which have become a hallmark of CCP oppression and are reported to be deployed at a large scale in far-western China.
