Bernardi visits Kapunda

April 24, 2019

Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi was welcomed in Kapunda this month alongside South Australian senate candidates Rikki Lambert and Carl Teusner.

The Bunyip reports, Senator Bernardi, Mr Lambert and Mr Teusner engaged in a question and answer session with locals at the Kapunda Bowling Club, mostly about broader political topics, rather than local issues.

“It was sensational,” Mr Lambert said. “We had about 60 to 70 people from all over the district. Questions were raised about immigration, the government debt, issues about foreign ownership was a recurring topic."

“There were some who asked several questions about abortion law as it’s a hot topic for some conservative people,” Mr Lambert said he’s pleased a date has finally been set for the federal election, May 18, with his key message being to inform voters that they have options when filling out their white senate ballot paper.

“I’m finding it astonishing that even older voters have no idea that if they don’t vote Liberal in the senate, that will not impact negatively on the Liberals’ chances of winning government,” he said.

“People are refreshed to know they’ve got the freedom to give a voice for their concerns for country people in the senate, without hurting the chances of (Prime Minister) Scott Morrison winning government," he concluded.
