Bernardi's anti-Russian Revolution motion celebrated

November 03, 2017

The Daily Telegraph newspaper today includes an opinion piece correctly observing that the Russian Revolution is not cause for celebration, but sober reflection on a system that murdered tens of millions in the name of equality.

Matthew Lesh, research fellow at the Institute of Public Affairs, writing today in the Telegraph, observes "The Socialist Alternative hosted a *celebration* (their emphasis) of the Russian Revolution ... They have even been supported by Labor and the Greens, who opposed a successful motion moved by senator Cory Bernardi which correctly stated that the revolution led to human rights abuses and mass deaths, and that it should not be celebrated in a liberal democracy."
